This Mask is Not Me

Shaye sighed, letting him cradle her in his lap.
"I'm fine, and no, I will never do that again" She said, resting her head against his shoulder, turning a bit so she was sitting diagnol, her face buried against him.
"You got tired out running?" She asked, her voice concerned. She winced, that didn't sound normal to her at all.
"Uh, that doesn't sound healthy" She murmured softly, looking up at him with worried, sad eyes.

Vaix frowned at her comment, and the look of concern in her eyes made him swallow somewhat nervously. He gave a soft shrug and stared at the ground, avoiding her eyes at the moment. Only because he had no idea what to tell her, she was right, it was unhealthy for a vampire to get tired out during a physical non-violent exerise. He sighed, then shook his head. "I know," was all he could reply with at the moment. Even now he was still exausted, the idea of switching him and Shaye around, so that he could sleep in her lap, was a littl;e more than just appealing. He only held off for her sake, he didn't want to worry her over himself.

Shaye slipped off his lap, though she was sore, she wasn't tired like him.
"Hey, do you wanna rest on me?" She asked softly, pulling on his arm and gently resting his head on her legs. She took off her jacket, not cold at all and laid it over top of him.
"Sleep alright?" She asked softly, running her fingers through his hair, trying to sooth him.

Vaix blinked as she welcomed him to sleep. He stared up at her as she lay his head on her lap, and almost instantly his eyelids drooped as her fingers ran through his hair. He let out a short gust of breath, and a tiny hint of a purr, though it was only a couple seconds long. Then imediately after, his eyes glazed over and he lay limp in her lap, so swiftly taken by sleep that his eyes hadn't had time to close. He didn't breath, due to his exaustion, but he was still with her, and he was still aware of her hands running through his hair, of everything that was happening around him, preventing a real sleep due to his paranoia.

Shaye felt Vaix relaxe, and she sighed. She fussed over the jacket covering her for a minute, before relaxing and continuing to run her fingers relaxing through his hair. Smiling she closed her own eyes, resting her head back against the cave wall. She didn't sleep, but she relaxed, content to have Vaix here with her.

Vaix slept fairy well considerig his state, though occasionally he'd wake up halfway, focusing on something that made a noise of two, before his eyes closed again, and the tense build up in his muscles was released. This continued on that way for at least ahlf an hour before he fully woke up. Though for another minute of two he didn't move, then turned his head slowly to look up at Shaye with a soft smile. "hey," he breathed.

"Hey" The brunette replied, a small smile lighting her pale features. She had been lost in thought, and hadn't noticed he was awake until he had spoken. She shifted, it was strange. Normally the rock wall would've hurt her back, but now she barely noticed it. She lifted one of her hands, running it through her filthy hair, it was wet and matted and now dirty from the back of the cave wall.

Vaix smiled in return when Shaye responded, lifting a heavy hand to touch her cheek bone lightly, holding the fram of her face in one hand. He barely noticed her dirty hair, as if he'd care for something that small. She could be covered in dirt from head to toe, and he'd still find her the prettiest. His eyes closed again for a second, then he laet his hand drop and shifted into a sitting position beside her. He didn't look any better than when he'd went to sleep, but he felt better. Being away from the others, getting some peaceful rest and having Shaye with him without the worry of her getting hurt. He smiled rather pleasently, then lay his head on her shoulder. "How are you?" he asked softly.

Shaye smiled leaning her face against his hand for a minute.
"Fine, just thinking" She said, though he didn't look better, he certainly sounded better, which was nice. She arched her back when he moved, stretching her arms above her head, before dropping them back to her sides. She grinned at him, "Sleep alright love?" She asked him, rubbing her eyes, spreading a small line of dirt under her eye.

"As good as I could manage," Vaix replied back with a soft smile, lifting a hand to rub the dirt away from her eye with an amused smile. He yawned, a wide awakening toothy yawn you'd see an animal do rather than a human. Then he shook his head lightly, as if to wake himself up some more, and glanced down at her arm. "Does the bandage need to be changed?" he asked her calmly. He was relaxed, being alone with her, nothing would hurt her here besides natural disasters, which he would not start to get paranoid over, because the wouldn't ever leave no matter where he went with her.

She stretched again.
"I dunno" She glanced down at the dirty bandage and handed her arm over to him, "What do you think?" She sighed and ran her hand through her hair again, probably making it dirtier. She glanced out the front of the cave, not sure if going home was such a good idea right now. She sighed, "So what do you want to do?" She asked softly.

Vaix stared at the dirty bandage, it was damp to the touch, which worried him slightly. He bagan to undo it imediately. "You have to keep this dry, love." He said softly, reaching over absent mindedly to grab the rest of the supplies he'd braught, and began to re-wrap it in guaze. He sighed at her last question and looked up at her curiously for a second. "About what?" he asked gently, he had a bad feeling Shaye was going to request going back home again. Which he really, really didn't want to do.

"I know, I'll try better" She said softly, wincing a bit as he handled it. Her fingers were stiff, and her arm was itchy again. She sighed and absentmindedly began to chew on a finger nail.
"Well I mean, odviously going back home isn't a great idea, at this point. So where do you want to go? Do you want to stay here? Or go someplace new?" She asked, she wanted to go home, but for Vaix's sake, and the sake of her family, she figured that wasn't the best idea.

Vaix blinked, then looked up from what he was doing with her arm at her list of ideas. Then gave a soft shrug, "I like it here. It's quiet, and safe. I only left the old place for your sake, but if it's causing you greif to be away from your family, I'd go back with you." He despised the idea, going back to the others, but it was better than seeing her sad and in longing. Which at the moment he was, she couldn't hide such a thing from him, it was all over her. She missed them, and it hadn't even been a day yet. He sighed and finished with her arm, tapping the end, then glancing up at her once more. "How's your arm? Do you need anything? Painkiller maybe?"

She smiled at him. "We can stay here then. I miss them yea, but not enough to go back, yet. Plus I think for everyones sake it's better I stay away for now" She said, her voice dipping a bit at the last part, but she shook it off and smilled again.
"It's fine, I can barely feel it" She said honestly. Her arm was the last thing on her mind which she figured was both a good and bad thing.

Vaix gave a nod about her arm, then lay it gently on her lap, having finished with it by now. Then he frowned, glancing at the cave entrance and staring out past it into the clouded sky. "Alright," he muttered gently, he was relieved she didn't want to head back yet, he really was. He glanced back at Shaye with a soft smile, "you hungry?" He didn't remember the last time she'd eaten something, and it was best she ate regularly, being wounded and all.

Shaye smiled, he was being an incredibly cautious which she found amusing.
"I don't even know, but I'm not hungry" She said, sighing. She doubted she could even eat right now, she as too upset. She leaned her head against his shoulder, closing her eyes, but not sleeping. She sighed, happy yet sad. She was really happy to be with Vaix again, but it sucked that her family was so split right now.

Vaix wasn't sure he liked her not being hungry, not after she hadn't eaten in so long. He sighed, but didn't make any noise of protest, just stayed still and allowed her to lean against him while he watched the cave door with the similar expression a meerkat would have out on the plains while it was looking for prediators. Not that there were any on a higher level than a vampire, but being paranoid as he was, he was still far to alert for his own good.

She shifted and yawned, curling into his lap. She was tired, a lot more then she had thought. Her eyelids fluttered and she slipped lower, her hand falling from her lap as she began to doze.
"Mmm, I guess I was tired" She mumbled under her breath, her eyes shutting as she fell into a restless, aggrivated sleep. It was odvious that she wasn't sleeping well. She was upset, and her body langauge conveyed it.

Vaix glanced down at Shaye as she slept, he smiled weakly, though he could tell she was at unease. He lifted a hand to her and ran his fingers affectionately through her hair, then gave a soft content sigh. He wished he could do more to help her sleep better, but really, all he could do was make sure she was safe.

Iggy had grown bored with bouncing around Roxa's room after a couple hours. Keith still hadn't come back, which concerned him. So without any say to Roxa he left, rather calmly, and without a single word uttered. He made his way outside, and was then distracted by Shaye and Vaix's old scent trail. His mind almost made the decision subconciously. Being himself, Iggy had an issue with families dividing up, he wanted them all in one place, or at least to know where they were. Even if Vaix didn't want him around, the fact that Shaye would be glad to see him was enough to push him onward. His interest pirked however, when he realized they had taken shelter in the very cave he'd hidden in with Lana. He smiled, then bounded rather happily up the rocks towards the cave.

Shaye smiled against Vaix's leg, nestling deeper, out of habit. She sighed, her body calming as he played with her hair. She sighed again, her eyes flickereing open for a second, before once again shutting. Her dreams with filled with images of her family, which hurt, not to mention the fact that Iggy's scent was now infiltrating her sleep. She sneezed, shaking her head and sitting up, she couldn't figure out if the scent was real, or if she had had that vivid of a dream.

Vaix, by this point, was growling. Iggy's scent was near, and he was uncomfertable with that on so many levels. If anything, Iggy had been the reason he'd encouraged the idea of leaving. The younger twit was far to unpredictable to be trusted a mile away from Shaye. He snarled, his lips curling as teh scent neared, then wrapped his arms around Shaye protectivly as she sat up. "Iggy," he muttered to her, so that she wasn't spooked by his behaviour.

Iggy hesitated at the sound of his brother's growls, then shrugged it off and bounded up the remaining distance to peek in the cave. His keen nocturnal based eyes saw them clearly, and he smiled, and let out a sort of cute squeek of happiness to have found them. "Shaye," he purred, drugged by Vaix's stronge doses of negitive emotion.

Shaye nodded, "So it wasn't a dream" She mumbled to herself, jumping as she heard Iggy squeak her name.
"Iggy, what are you doing here?" She asked, although she smiled. It was hard for her to ever get annoyed at the young vampire, he was so darn amusing, even if the others considered him dangerous. She was aware of that, not that she really cared. She liked him, and that, to her, was all that mattered. She let Vaix be protective, knowing he needed to be that way right now, more then ever.

Iggy smiled happily as she replied back, she wasn't mad like Vaix, so he was happy to be around. Though at Vaix's dangerous growl he stared at his brother, the exposure of his fangs mad Iggy slightly nervous. So in a rather odd way, Iggy did a smooth submissive motion that rolled him on his back, laying the way he was, all his vital organs, main blood veins in his neck, everything of that sport, was exposed. It was a submissive form usually only an animal used, but for some reason laying this way calmed his brother down, probably because Vaix felt more in control of Iggy this way. The innocence in his saphire eyes gleamed in a happy sparkling way as he watched Shaye with a happy smile. "I missed you," he answered rather softly. "Roxa and Keith miss you two."

Shaye winced.
"I know Ig" She said, burying her face against Vaix's side. She didn't really want to talk about Keith right now, she felt so guilty. She sighed, and tried to keep her emotions under control, she didn't want to make Vaix upset, or at least any more then he currently was. She frowned and glanced at Iggy, he looked sort of odd lying on his back like that. She inhaled, seeing his veins in his throat, so filled with blood was making her thirsty.
