This Mask is Not Me

"It's just my arm" She said, shrugging a bit. She glanced back at the drunk guy, sighing softly.
"I can get him back to the cabin, but I dunno if I really want to" She admitted, wincing a bit. Her arm was throbbng insanely and she whimpered inadvertantly.
"Sorry, I should've stayed at the cabin" She said, sighing wistfully. She knew she was being useless right now, and Vaix was probably disappointed in her. She cradled her arms carefully to her chest and sighed.

Vaix frowned, then sighed and shook his head, "it's fine. If you don't like him, we'll find another." He smiled sweetly, but didn't take her hand due to the fact she was using it to hold her bad arm. "We'll be leaving now," he told the drunk man, "have a nice afternoon sir..." He sigh and looked over at Shaye, taking a hesitant step forward as he waited for her to come.

Shaye bit her lip and followed along behind Vaix, frowning. This was supposed to have been a vacation, a good time, after everything that had happened with Seth. But now it was a pretty big disaster. She dropped her hands to her sides, a small frown on her face.
"Sorry" She murmured, although it was so soft that she doubted even a vampire would hear.

Keith's eyes flickered open, eyes still black. A small growl emitted from him as he brought his hand up, tentitively feeling his sore cheek. It almost felt as if Vaix had broken his cheek bones. Wincing he flexed his jaw, pain ripping through his cheek. Definately broken.

Vaix frowned, barely hearing her, though in hearing her tone he reached out to sling an arm over her shoulder to comfort her. "It's okay," he reassured, expecting what she'd said had been some sort of self put down. "We'll find someone else for Keith, someone you're okay with, or I'm okay with, however things turn out..." He kissed her cheek lovingly, giving a soft sigh, "don't worry over it. It's nothing..."

She sighed, "It's not so much that. It's this whole vacation. It was supposed to be stress free, but now it's turned into be a complete disaster" She said, hiding her face in his chest, feeling miserable. She hated how their vacation had been worried. She sighed sadly, face still buried in his chest, taking comfort in the familiar scent of his leather jacket. After everything that happened he still had this jacket, which she could take some comofort from that.

Vaix smiled, then shook his head, "stuff happens Shaye. Bad stuff always happens, you're a vampire, it's only natural you'd attract more negative attention to yourself, you get used to it, you become passive. Not that I am over what's happened to you... but I'll get over it as you heal, as will everyone else. Besides, regular memories are never remembered the same..." He kissed the top of her head as she hid against him, noticing her attention to his jacket. He sighed softly, "this jacket, it's as old as me you know. I've taken it to countless tailors to keep it healthy, it was my fathers." He knew she didn't care much for family, and neither did he really, it was more of a bitter reminder he kept, and no mater how hard he tried, he just couldn't seem to part with it.

Shaye sighed softly.
"Okay" She whispered, not really agreeing or disagreeing with him. She knew he would try and convince her that she was wrong as long as she disagreed with him. She smiled at him, it was brittle though.
"Wow" She said, her good hand fingering the jacket. She was impressed, not that it was his father. She wasn't fond of family, but she hadn't heard Vaix speak of his father really ever before.
"You never really speak about your father" She commented softly, not really wanting to aggrivate him or anything.

Vaix frowned, his eyes spacing out at her comment, "I wouldn't be able to," he muttered back. "I never really met him, only when i was very young. He gave the jacket to my mother as a farewell present, and I took it on my leave..." He shrugged, "it wasn't because he didn't love us, but he worked for the king, he never really had the time to come home." Vaix blinked, looking over at Shaye for her reaction.

"Oh" She murmured, nodding softly.
"That's to bad.." She didn't really know what else to say. "Sorry, I wish I knew what to say, but my own epxerience with parents is limited" She didn't consider her parents to even be parents anyway. Her hand flinched unconciously to the side of her face, before dropping again. She smiled at him, although her eyes were sad.
"It's a nice jacket though" She murmured, smiling at him again. She tried to hide her own feelings right now, it was a hard subject to talk about and think about.

Vaix frowned at her reaction, lifting a hand to her face and resting it on her cheek. "I've upset you haven't I? I'm sorry, I forget how sensitive the subject can get with others..." He gave her a soft smile, not knowing what else to say as he watched her. He gave a frown, then wrapped his arms around her and dragged over closer, wrapping the jacket around her and him together. He smiled softly, "better?"

"No, I'm fine" She said softly, smiling as he wrapped her in his jacket, with him. She grinned at him, pressing her face to his chest. She sighed, burying her face into his chest, loving the attention he was giving her.
"Thank you" She murmured softly, snaking her good arm around him so that she wasn't falling over. She slipped a bit the snow, nearly falling over.
"Woah" She gasped as her legs went out from under her, due to the ice. She gasped again and fell backwards in the snow, taking him with her.

Vaix's hand spread out as he was dragged down with her, stopping himself from flattening her frame as the landed. He sighed, face mere centimeters from hers as he stared at her in shock. "You okay?" he managed to say with a smile playing at the corners of his lips, he uttered a laugh at the way it had turned out.

Shaye's eyes were wide.
"Yea fine" She managed to stutter before begining to laugh. She had never realized that even vampires could be so clumsy. She smiled and kissed him lightly, still laying contently in the snow. It was rather comfortable. Thankfully her arm didn't hurt, and she hadn't squished it or anything.

Vaix slid down to one side, laying with her contently, ignoring the stares they were receiving from the public around them. "Not hurt?" he asked, referring to her arm, she didn't seem to be in any pain, so he obviously hadn't completely flattened her. He chuckled and kissed her cheek in return, "we have to be careful, it's icey here..." The warning was far to late to be of any real use.

"Not hurt, and yes, very icey" She said, also ignoring the stairs. She could feel the snow begning to soak her outfit, but she didn't really care.
"Should we keep looking?" She asked, in a better mood since the little mishap. She grinned at him and sat up, shaking snow from her hair and laughing softly as it landed on him.

"Sounds good, poor Keith is waiting for us back at the cabin, we can't doddle..." He kissed her forehead, then pushed himself up and offered her his hand. "You do the acting? Or I?" he wasn't sure if she was up to the idea of seducing someone into following her to the cabin, he had no problem doing it if that were the case.

"I can" Shaye said, feeling much better. She slipped her hand into his.
"Should I meet you back at the cabin? She asked, glancing around. She saw a guy standing not far away, he wasn't horrible looking. She flicked her hair over her shoulder, fluffing it out a bit. She concentrated and made her skin a tiny less pale. Only on her face, seeing as she couldn't do her entire body.
"Well, how do I look?" She asked, twirling for Vaix.

"perfect, as always." Vaix muttered with a smile of approval. He glanced over at the guy she'd eyed up, then back at her. "I'd prefer to stay close, if you don't mind. I'm not ready to let you wander on your own without anyone...pity me." He gave her a soft smile, then kissed her cheek. "I'll be ear shots distance away, call for me if you need me..." With that, he turned and left, leaving her no chance to object over his staying near comment.

Shaye rolled her eyes at Vaix behind his back.
"Men" She muttered, walking towards the guy.
"Hey" She called, her voice soft and light. The guy whipped around a small grin spreading over his features.
"Hey" She smiled, "What are you up to tonight?" She asked, stepping closer, letting him get a good look at her. She could see a blush rising in his features. He took a step back, hitting an ice patch he slipped, grabbing her and pulling her down, on top of him.
"Eek" Shaye yelped, suddenly laying on top of the random guy.

Vaix blinked at the scene, flinching as Shaye fell, and feeling an urge to run to her side. He didn't however, she looked fine, and he'd ruin her act if he did jump in the way he wished too. He just watched the man with narrowed eyes, seeing her on top of him made an instinctual spark of jealousy cross him. He muttered a soft growl, but once again, forced himself to stay where he was, and attempt to ignore what was going on to the extent he could.

Shaye laughed softly as the guy rolled off of her.
"Uh sorry about that" He said, standing up and reaching down to help her up.
"It's alright" Shaye said, letting him help her. She had heard Vaix growl subtly but she didn't say anything. It was his fault for bothering to stay around and watch her work. She brushed out her hair, still laughing.
"It's not your fault it's icey" Shaye said, he laughed and blushed a bit.

Vaix sighed and forced himself to calm, leaning quietly against a building as she seduced the boy in a way that no doubt made him jealous. Once again he didn't act on it, nor would he ever. Shaye was working, he chose to observe, it was his own fault. But that didn't stop him from being frustrated with the other boy.

"So what's your name?" Shaye asked, smiling enticingly at him.
"Curtis" He said, slipping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer. She went, easily. She laughed, "Well Curtis, I'm Shaye" She murmured softly, causing him to blush even more.
"So I'm having a little party at my cabin, wanna come as my date?" She asked, stepping away so that he could see her better again.
'Of course babe" He said, reaching out, one hand caressing her hair.
"Good" She smiled.

Vaix let his hand tighten to fists as an outlet. He stared at the floor now, not uttering a single sound as he listened to them. There was a part of him that hurt, despite the fact he spewed to himself over and over again that it was all fake. He sighed, crossing his arms n a tense way, still listening quietly.

Internally Shaye was a mess. She felt awful for flirting with this guy, knowing she didn't love or even care about him. But Keith needed blood, badly. She sighed, biting her lip and glancing at the ground, composing herself.
"Well come on then" She said, holding out her good hand to him. She winced as he took it, thankful that she was wearing gloves.
"Okay" He smiled, odviously smitten with her. She led the way towards the cabin, glancing once over her shoulder at Vaix, smiling at him with sad eyes.
