This Mask is Not Me

Vaix winced slightly at her tired comment, it told him she was far more than just hungry. The fact she'd managed to get so far with humans around her was outstanding. His arms wrapped around Shaye and brought her close, "you've waited to long..." he whispered in her ear. "It'll start to get dangerous if you don't feed now. Please Shaye, just take a bit, for me."

Chris opened his mouth, but didn't say anything. Lana was far more outspoken them him.
"What is wrong with her?" She demanded, pushing her way into the room.

Shaye leaned against Vaix, her tired mind contemplating the effort of eating.
"I guess" She slurred, bringing her fangs to his neck and lightly sinking them in. She could barely hold herself up, and soon her head slipped again, falling against his chest. She had managed to get a bit of blood, but she wasn't sure how much.

"What is going on?" Lana demanded again, her voice outraged and disgusted.

Vaix made a quick face as Shaye's fangs pierced his skin, then sighed when she fell away. This was bad, and the fact that he'd allowed her to get so low hurt his heart. He ignored Lana, she could figure out for herself what was happening. He was glad however, that Chris had taken to being silent.
He gave a sad sigh and used one hand to lift her head back onto his shoulder, using his arms to keep her from slipping again. "Come on," he said softly, "I need you to stay with me."

Shaye dragged her eyes open.
"I'm with you, barely" She said, smiling weakly at him. She was leaning heavily on him right now, having a really hard time staying awake.

Lana opened her mouth and Chris grabbed her hand.
"Would you shut up" He hissed at his twin, clapping his hand over his mouth.
"Why? I want to know what's going on" She demanded.
"Well why don't you wait, and maybe Vaix will explain when he has a second" Chris hissed at her.

"But your leaving," he whispered back sadly. "Shaye, I really, really need you to drink. Please, don't worry about taking to much from me, or hurting me. I need you to drink until your full..." He closed his eyes, kissing her neck softly and laying his head on her shoulder.

Shaye could hear the desperation in Vaix's voice, and that more than anything moved her. Sighing she sank her fangs back into the pre-made holes, letting Vaix's blood slowly fill her. After what felt like an eternity, but was probably only a few minutes, she pulled away, full.
"Wow" She breathed, once again slumping forward. She was still tired, but she no longer felt sick.

"Gross" Lana murmured, "Would you guys mind telling me what goes on?" She demaned, glaring from Shaye to Chris to glancing lovingly at Vaix.

Vaix lay still against Shaye, he felt woozy and had a terrible dizziness from loosing so much blood. He took a lot out of him to sit up straight, especially when he wanted to just curl up in a corner and sleep. He did smile however, at hearing Shaye pirk up. He breathed slowly and attempted to lean against her, exhausted. "Thank you," he said back with a content sigh. She had taken a lot, though not enough to push him into the same state as she'd been in. All he needed was a couple minutes to recover from the amount of blood he'd lost.

"Why are you thanking me? I should be thanking you" She said, nuzzling his neck and curling against him. She sighed, having totally forgotten that their were two humans in the room, at least until she heard Lana's obnoxious and demanding voice.
She growled, annoyed at the girl.
"I don't wanna explain to her, I don't want anything to do with her. You explain" She murmured in Vaix's ear, kissing it lightly before turning her attention back to the humans.

Vaix sighed then looked over at the mortals, he gave a weak smile. Then laughed softly, "oh dear. What a mess we're in now. How should I start this..." He gave a shrug, looking at Lana, "best guess about what just happened. I want to know what track you two are on before I say anything..."

Shaye laughed weakly, still pressed against Vaix.
"Well odviously she's crazy" Lana said. She didn't want to believe what she had just seen, so she had convinced herself that Shaye was awful, horrible and disgusting and Vaix was noble and perfet.
"Well I know Shaye is a vampire shape shifter, and she's proved it. But I have no idea what's going on" Chris said, rolling his eyes at his sister.
"Uh, well odviously she's insane then Chris. You just believe her because you think that-she glared and pointed at Shaye-is hott"

Vaix gave Lana an amused smile, "and you don't think the same to me I suppose?" He looked over at Chris with a raised brow, "I assume Shaye must have come clean on you, because you're so right it's almost to perfect. Shaye isn't crazy, she is in fact a shape shifter that has been turned vampiric, and I am, in fact, a vampire. Lana, you have a liking to me only because of what I am, and Chris the same to Shaye." He gave an amused laugh, "so look where we are now, a couple defenseless mortals stuck in a blizzard with two blood sucking vampires. You can't leave, because the cold would kill you, but if you stay there's no guarantee that we won't bite..." He gave a devilish flirting smile to Lana, though it was playful to show he had no real feelings for her. He gave Shaye a squeeze, his arms still wrapped around her in a hug-like way. Vaix smiled at the two then waited calmly for their response.

Lana rolled her eyes at Vaix.
"Yea right" She said, her denial evident. "Next you'll turn into bats and fly away or something" She laughed and nudged her brother.
"You actually believe them?" She said incredulously, laughing at him as well. Chris ignored his sister.
"Yea, I already came to both those conclusions. So I guess we'll have to risk the change of getting bitten over the guarnteed freeze to death" He said as calmly as he could manage.
"We'll try not to bite" Shaye murmured, her voice muffled from it's position at Vaix's neck still. She kissed him lightly, her lips pressing to the already healed bite wounds.

"Bats?" Vaix gave Lana a look, "um, no actually. No bats, not related in anyway to us..." He smiled when Shaye kissed him and looked over at her with a happy loving smile, then kissed her forehead in return and looked over at Chris with a passive shrug, "there really isn't much to worry over my bite in the first place anyways. My fangs don't work right..." He opened his mouth and gripped at one of his sharp incisors. "No venom, no newborns. I can thank my maker for that." He ignored Lana's disbelief. Whatever she wanted to think, Shaye had drank blood, she'd confessed that was what she did and Vaix had as well. Which meant whatever she believed, she was still in danger.

"But on the other hand. My fangs are fully functional" Shaye said, opening her own mouth and letting her fangs slide out. Small droplets of venom shone on them, before she retracted them and leaned her head on Vaix's shoulder.

Lana gaped, she was begining to believe.
"So you're not dangerous" She smiled lovingly at Vaix, "But your psycho girlfriend is?" She glared at Shaye.
"Figures, you just keep making things worse" She said, making Shaye feel suddenly quiet bad.

"Lana, shut up!" Chris said, sighing and trying to look aplogetic.

Vaix rolled his eyes and gave an amused smile, "well. Saying I'm not dangerous is a bit of a misunderstanding. If Shaye bites you, you turn into a vampire. If I bite you, you bleed out all over the floor and die..." He frowned at the idea, then gave a shrug. "Plus the whole super strength and speed idea as well on both of us. I'd say Shaye's more living friendly than me..."

"I don't see how you could ever be mean" Lana pouted, still glaring at Shaye.
"Besides, why would you hurt us? What did we do to deserve that?" She muttered, crossing her arms and glaring at her twin, who was frantically signaling her to shut up.

Shaye growled, "I might be living friendly, but I'm most definately not her friendly" She said, shaking her head. She pressed her head against Vaix.
"I don't like her" She muttered in his ear, nipping it teasingly, not using her fangs at all.

Vaix smiled at Shaye, "just tolerate it for now. I'm sure it would break Chris apart if we killed her."
Then he looked at Lana and answered calmly, "Lana. The both of us need you to understand/ You are like a meal taughting to be eaten. You couldn't begin to imagine the effort it takes to contain from settling our instincts. You've done absolutely nothing to deserve being killed, neither has Chris. If it does happen, it will be my mistake alone. Seeing as how Shaye's full and I'm content for now."

Shaye rolled her eyes.
"Back up, Chris hasn't done anything to deserve to be eaten. You on the other hand have done nothing but irritate me, flirt with my boyfriend and belittle me. So you have done something to be eaten" She said, shaking her head and turning, glaring at her. She was generally not a mean person, but she was actually ready to snap.

Chris sighed, and nodded his head at both of them.
"She's right Lana, you've done nothing but be rude and disrespectful" He said.
"Oh whatever" Lana snapped, glaring at the two of them.
"You know what? The only reason I'm all over your supposed boyfriend is because you haven't paid any attention to him all night" She lied through her teeth, causing Shaye to roll her eyes.

Vaix gave a sigh, then shook his head at Lana, letting his own glare pierce at her. "Shaye left not to neglect me, but to keep the both of you alive. Don't you think it's rather disrespectful of you to accuse her of something she did for you in a bad way?" He kissed Shaye's cheek in an attempt to calm her down. Though he wasn't about to stop her if she snapped, Lana was refusing to see what boundaries she was pushing, and the fact her head was laying on the chopping block.

Lana rolled her eyes, "Oh so dramatic" She said, standing up and leaving the room, but not before smiling teasingly at Vaix.
"If you ever want a decent girlfriend, give me a call" She said, walking back out to the hot tub.
"Sorry" Chris said, looking sadly at the ground. "She's always been like this" He said, pressing his hands against his knees.

Shaye snarled loudly at the girlfriend comment before turning his attention to Chris.
"It's not your fault" She said, pressing her face against Vaix's chest, her hands clenching and unclenching. She could barely control herself right now.

Vaix watched Lana go with a roll of his eyes, he looked back at Chris curiously when the other human apologised. "I'd watch her if I were you Chris, it seems like she's good at getting into fights, and I'm not to sure you'd like the outcome if Shaye grew involved in one..." He looked at Shaye when the newborn continued to clench and unclench her hands. He sighed and scooped both of them up in one of his own. "Shaye, just let her go. It really isn't worth getting mad over."

Shaye arched an eyebrow at Vaix but didn't say anything. She was still a female, and anger and jealousy still affected her. She stood up and snagged her jeans off the floor and pulled them on. She sighed and glanced at the guys.
"I'll be downstairs" She said, her voice rough as she disappeared out of the room.

Chris watched her go, shaking her head a bit.
"She's always been like that" He said, smiling apologetically. "And if Shaye goes after her, I wouldn't blame her"

Vaix gave a nod of appreciation to Chris, watching as Shaye disappeared. He looked over at the kid with a soft sigh. "Your taking all this really well you know. You just learned our dark secret, but your not in panic like you'd expect most people to do. Or are we just not that scary?"

"Well to be honest, there was just something about you guys that seemed so different" He admitted, shrugging a bit.
"I guess I should be scared, but today has been way to weird for anything to actually scare me right now" He stretched out.
"So is it true what they say about vampires? I mean relationship wise?" He asked curiously, wanting to know more about Shaye and Vaix, whom he now considered to be friends.

"Relationship wise?" Vaix replied back curiously, "you mean the whole only fall in love once thing? Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Most vampire books are pretty accurate, except for the whole bat thing, and the roast alive in the sun." He shrugged passively and gave a yawn, still slightly drained from losing so much blood.
