It's 2027. A massive war has ravaged the planet, with an entirely new enemy. No, not aliens, nor mutants, or anything like that. The threat that threatened to erase humanity? Zombies. Ghouls. Somnambulists. Whatever you call them, these moaning monstrosities have eradicated most of humanity, except for one large outpost in Northern Russia: The city of приют, or, roughly translated into English, Haven. Shelter. Asylum. Retreat. Home. Nobody can remember if it was given the name before or after the outbreak, but it couldn't be more fitting. It is humanity's last stronghold, the final front on the fight with the undead. You are a member of a group of survivors who have just recently left a military bunker that you had found, in the European country of Georgia. You are people from all around the world, of all races and creeds. But background is insignificant. You have only one mission, a common, unifying goal: reach Haven, and survive. With you are the descendants of many significant people in the history of Solanum study, include a descendant of the fabled Dr. Ibrahim Obeidallah, another who traces their lineage to Elijah Black, yet another to Dr. Jan Vanderhaven, and yet another to the ill-fated but notable Harland Lee. Their knowledge and drive is the core and pulse of this group, and are the priority members of the group, their lineage making them massive assets to Haven. If you cannot survive, you must ensure their safety.
